Buffalo Area Poetry & Literature Calendar (week of March 3-March 9)
Tuesday, 6 p.m.: Canisius University presents a talk by author and educator Robin Wall Kimmerer discussing her widely acclaimed book Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants. The event is held under the auspices of the university’s William H. Fitzpatrick Chair of Political Science Lecture Series and is free and open to the public. Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Open mic at Cucina, a restaurant inside Hotel Richardson. Sara Ali and Meg Specksgoor are the co-hosts of this weekly series featuring poetry, music and comedy. Hotel Richardson, 444 Forest Ave., Buffalo. Register with the venue via jkonze@douglasdev.com
Wednesday, 7 p.m.: Ground and Sky Poetry Series Roundtable led by Joel Lesses.

Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.: CFI Literary Café Series reading hosted by poet Ryki Zuckerman and featuring poets Stephen Baraban and Dan Sicoli. Center for Inquiry, 1310 Sweet Home Rd., Amherst. Free and open to the public.
Wednesday, 9 p.m.: Poetry Night at Caffe Aroma, biweekly open mic reading series hosted by Ben Brindise and Justin Karcher. 957 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo.
Friday, 7:30 p.m.: Buffalo-based writer Paula Wachowiak presents a one-woman show based on stories from her first book The Polish Cleaning Lady's Daughter as well as two new stories from her second book Phonographic Memories. Paul Robeson Theatre, 350 Masten Ave., Buffalo. Show runs from Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. from March 8th to March 24, with Sunday matinee performances at 4 p.m. Ticket prices are $25 general admission, $20 for seniors, and $10 for students with an ID.
Saturday, 7 p.m.: Wordism, a noncompetitive open mic event series for spoken word artists. New and veteran artists are welcome. Rooted Lounge, 69 Allen St., Buffalo. $5 cash only admission.
